VIRUS FANTASY

Let’s make a fantasy.

We think that we are so civilized and technologically advanced. Our first civilization is from approximately 8000 BC and only last 100 years we are making significant progress. Now we think that we know a lot. Our technology allows us to observe very tiny creatures that we didn’t know 100 years ago and very giant structures that we had no idea before.

Wait…..

There is a problem. We can see all those but we cannot really deal with them. Our body, perception, physical laws are limiting us. We know that entire universe is not designed for us and we are just another creatures who comes and goes. However, we cannot also really reach what we see, what we discover.

Have you seen this image before? It shows the all categorized creatures ever existed compared to age of earth.

Guess where are humans? In the very end!

Wikipedia says:

A virus is a microscopic infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of an organism. Viruses can infect all types of life forms, from animals and plants to microorganisms, including bacteria and archaea

and they have been existed since millions years ago. They are infecting every thing from animals, plants to bacteria. They uses us as a host and meanwhile they are fighting, surviving. We even don’t know how many of them are jumping from one host to another.

From all these information, we can easily see that we are new in this universe and it is definitely not existed for us. Otherwise, it wouldn’t take million years to show up.

Now we are coming back to us and start the fantasy part:

We discovered that early humans and even other ancestors before them weren’t a large community as we are today. They tried many things to survive and like animals and many creatures, found that sticking together is the best way.

After agricultural revolution, we started to have civilizations. Number of people increased, we collobrated with each other and built up new systems.

Family, tribe, cities, nations, empires…

It is like cells. They accumulate together. All makes different tasks but all together they achieve new task and it is different than individuals.

As we have tissues, brain, neural networks, muscles; we have cities, countries, economical systems and so on.

Then we keep growing and having empires and in all these process, we keep fighting. Many of us dies, some survives. We also fight against nature meanwhile.

After many deadly, bloody experiences; we decide to create new systems. New economies, scientific networks, states, unions like United Nations, European Union. We see the power of unification and collaboration.

In the 21.century, we have begun to talk about bigger systems like World as one nation. In this way, we are talking about universal communication, universal basic income, universal economical systems, production, science, technology…

Any problem in the world affects entire world now. Refugee crisis, massive bush fires, pandemic, economical crisis, poverty, climate change, consumption of resources. We know everything about everywhere and we see all affects all of us direct or indirect way.

Therefore, now we are going through new mentality and revolution to get rid of borders, governments and differences by the help of technology. Soon or later we will be single world nation. This will result with working for the planet all together although individual tasks are different.

What’s then?

We will start to travel to space more, look for new possibilities, new planets. Perhaps, we will exploit solar system and look for new galaxies in the end. It is also possible to find new other species or civilizations somewhere out there.

Now going back to virus. They are living here for million years and they can use every other creatures for their life.

Thinks as they are jumping from planet to planet.

What if they have better technology then us and they are more advanced civilization?

What if we don’t have enough technology to observe their individuals inside? Maybe, there is big community and work inside a single virus.

What if we are the universe for them and we are also inside another universe and make the some small cell work or even couldn’t reach that level yet. We can consider the planet as a cell or the galaxy as a cell. Either case, we couldn’t manage yet to reach cellular level as virus do.

Perhaps, we will still discover a lot about atoms, bacteria, virus and all. Think that 100 years ago, we didn’t know a lot about these. 1000 years ago we had no idea what is atom is and how it really is.

Who knows, maybe instead of going up, we should dig down more.
