100+ Followers and what now?

My writing story has begun with depression and dark ideas that I cannot share with anyone around. After trying different activities to relax my mind, I find myself writing a lot, and surprisingly it was helping to get rid of my negative thoughts and dark nature. In time this has changed as well. Normally, my motivation and inspiration were always negative thoughts but in time I decided to change it and write different opinions, sometimes different genres of stories as well as the diary.

This sharing was relaxing me and pushing me to write more but after a while, I started to need some interaction to see how I write, how it is perceived. Therefore, I started to post my works on Facebook. It was receiving comments, likes and causing new discussions which were quite fun and motivating but after a while, it was just stuck in the same environment. Therefore, I wanted to spread it more and started my first blog on WordPress. It worked also well but not exactly because there was one problem. I was writing in two languages and very random times. Then I moved to Medium. Here, I made the first mistake. Self-publication! It was because I wanted to separate English and Turkish articles but then it turned into extra work of translation and lack of motivation. In the end, I decided to separate these two blogs.

After separation, it was again a problem because I was stuck on one instead of manage both. I was giving also long breaks and as a result, interaction and feedback were almost 0. In Turkish blog, it works anyway good but the problem is Medium is not that popular in Turkey and it keeps me in certain borders. Therefore, I have decided to work on the English blog more.

Problem Statement

I thought a bit about how I can manage to make my blog alive. First, I needed to state the problem and it was clear.

1. I write randomly in terms of time and content

2. I have no strategy

I still want to continue my way as it is instead of focusing on stats because the reason I am writing is actually to relax my mind and share my opinions. I also don’t have a specific technique that defines my writing yet. Until I find my way, I want to keep trying.

The second point, I find important. It can be disorganized but I need a strategy. Therefore, I came up with the idea to reach 100+ followers to be eligible for the Partner Program. It would be also a good challenge and motivation. So, I dropped comments on posts about 100 followers and followed back anyone who followed me. Thanks to all this strategy worked well. In 2 weeks, I reached 100.

What now?

My first strategy worked well and I increased followers. Now, it is time to increase interaction, reading ratio and catch the attention of the audience. However, as I mentioned, I will continue my own way and keep writing on different topics but also will add some certain series and statistics aimed articles. Because otherwise, I know that I will lose my inspiration and motivation for writing when it turns into an expectation. Let’s see if I can manage that and create more readable and interesting posts.
