How to know yourself-8: Character and Sex

Today’s questions are:

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Why do you think so?

What do I think about my sexuality?

Let’s start with the first question. You can find many online tests and websites about character types. I can recommend reading about them but the most important is not the test result but what you think about yourself.

The other important point is to understand that these character types are not each other’s substitutes and none are better. The modern world dictates that being social, active, joining events, spending weekends out, and spotting lights on ourselves are good but being yourself, spending time alone or at home, being a nerd, and going out when necessary are bad things.

This thought is quite dominant, especially in high school years and business life. Being extroverted is shown as the first step to success. TVs, ads, movies, series… All shows in this way. On the other hand, we can see that many great, inspiring leaders and minds are introverts such as Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, Warren Buffet, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi… The common thing these people have is to know themselves well. Furthermore, they are good listeners and thinkers. They use their character in their favor.

The second question is about sexuality. What do you think about your sexuality?

This is also another important question because sexuality is the center of identity. It is the answer and cause of many mental actions. Ignoring it can destroy your self-confidence, self-worth, mental health as well as expression of emotions.

Sexuality has many physical and mental benefits. Even if you don’t want, your body seeks those. I will not count all benefits but can recommend to google it. You can also see how suppressed sexuality creates sick minds and an aggressive society.

Sexuality affects your perspective. It reduces stress, and anxiety and increases happiness, empathy, love, intimacy, and trust. It also beats your self defense mechanism which is a result of immature emotional psychology. It helps to overcome depression and loneliness feeling.

Of course, these benefits are not coming themselves. Like everything, it comes with awareness. You should think about it and find out your condition, wishes and be aware of your sexual perspective so that a healthy relationship can be built on a healthy base. A healthy relationship and strong sexual awareness can also improve your daily life with developed confidence.

To summarize;

We are living in a society with an excessive amount of stimulus, distraction, information, and flow. The only way to not be dragged is to know yourself. Knowing your character and shaping your life accordingly is vital.

Sexuality seems irrelevant in the first place. Conversely, it is strongly bounded to your daily psychology and behaviors. Many actions are the result of surpressed sexuality or the opposite. Many sexual problems, mental issues, and concerns are the results of acting against your character.

Sexuality ad character can change your daily life. Strong awareness can improve your self-worth, self-confidence and it can help you to make better decisions and to have a better life.
